The preliminary study for a hotel unit is situated in Madalena, Pico Island, Azores.
Considering the land’s context within the evolving urban landscape, with new roads emerging, the positioning of the building aims to maximize the guests’ views, with its orientation focused on the sea and Pico Mountain.
The exterior space has been meticulously designed to provide a distinct experience compared to the existing offerings in the region. It includes an interior garden with a water mirror, which adds a unique character to the hotel.
This garden will be a central feature in all distribution spaces and social areas, establishing an intriguing connection between the interior spaces and the building’s design. The water within the garden will reflect the building’s volumes, enhancing the ambiance with captivating interplays of light.
Furthermore, the garden serves as a buffer between the more social areas, which have connections to the exterior, and the zones where the rooms are situated. This ensures that guests staying in the rooms can enjoy a peaceful environment without being disturbed by potential noise from the social areas.
