Casa Enzo, São Mateus

The house is located in São Mateus, and its primary objective is to harmoniously blend with the natural landscape.

This architectural endeavor is a collaborative effort with Azores based artist EDO. The dwelling is designed as a single-family residence, divided into two distinct yet functionally identical units. The main structure serves as the core of the house, while the second unit functions as a studio.

The geographical layout of the land and the vistas it offers play pivotal roles in shaping the architectural program, particularly in how it integrates with the courtyard and the surrounding scenery.

The central design concept revolves around a courtyard, which serves as a foundational element for organizing the house’s layout, achieved through the physical separation of the two residential units.

By subtracting portions of the primary volume, an outer layer crafted from basalt is introduced. Meanwhile, the interior courtyard features a white hue that facilitates the reflection of light into the interior spaces, enhancing the overall ambiance.
