This project focuses on a small house located in Piedade, within the municipality of Lajes do Pico. The intervention involves converting the existing space into an exhibition area for handmade tiles.

The main intention of the project was to preserve the existing characteristics of the “atafona,” such as the visible basalt stone masonry on the exterior. It was necessary to increase the height of the building to meet the minimum ceiling height requirements.

Since the firing process takes place in an adjacent building, the interior organization took into account the need for an area for tile painting work, an exhibition space for displaying finished works, and a storage area.
